Matthew F asked: I have a 2000 Chevy Malibu and an 06 Chevy Impala. I run
E85 in the 06 Impala as it is flex fuel. I tried
E85 gradually in the 2000 Malibu and it ran great! I put gas back in though as I didn’t want to cause any long term damage. I hear of people with non flex fuel cars
running E85 for
long periods of time.
The engine burns it, the compuater apparanetly made the adjustment.

the fuel line seals can swell and then have to be replaced
it wasn’t designed for the extra corrsiveness of e-85. it can also cause weird running problems, ses light, and 02 sensor
failures all of which i have seen before
The ethanol is much more corrosive than gasoline, and if you’re car isn’t designed for it, you will do significant damage over time.
The people you hear of are going to have major problems down the road, don’t do it.
Dan is spot on the point,it can cause all kinds of problems in your fuel system, you got away with it for now,but when you don’t you will pay anywhere between 800$ and 2000$ to replace all the affected componets,it’s not worth the risk to save a few pennies on fuel.
