Is it not obvious enough that oil will run out and with the increasing price of fuel world wide? Its like humans are willing to pay more fuel money to drive thier car from A to B.
Why are we so reliant a non renewable resource that will eventually out. Its like society has a ****** for oil and fuel where we have become so dependent on it.
What can be done to break this addiction to non renewable resources that we depend so much on.

in order for everyone to stop using oil, there will have to be no more oil found. that’s the only way to stop this. we’ve gotten used to cars and it’s hard for people to go back living like our ancestors did in the 1900s. something big will have to happen.
Because in order to force people to switch to an alternative fuel, you would have to force nearly everyone in the US to buy a new car and for many, especially in an economic recession, that just isnt an option. You gonna buy everyone a new car?
Last I checked it was still a free country.
Be very careful of what you wish for…….
our government ***** and the people that are supposed to make a difference are making a profit with **** that’s killing our earth.
Easy… because the average N. American can still afford to pay for gas even at the current prices.
Bottom line is until it REALLY starts to pinch our wallets, no one is going to give up these minor luxuries for the sake of something like the environment, and the good of humanity. We are all guilty of being selfish and we all want to live in our current state of luxury with cars, electricity, hot water, AC etc.
People react to $$ and prices. If you really want to discourage people from driving, over heating their houses during winter, over cooling during summer etc, hike up gas prices to the point where they become unaffordable, and then you’ll see people walking and running all over the city. When we can no longer afford to pay for gas, we will switch to alternatives. Until then we will continue to exploit/
Same thing goes for any resource that is abused and exploited…eg water, paper etc.
Another thing, rationing would be a good idea. If energy was rationed out in some kind of consistent manner (eg 100kWh/person/day or something), it would force us to be more economical and use E only when really necessary or prioritize our consumption.
However, a lot of this has more to do with politics than it does with environment and economics. The main lobbyists for presidential candidates happen to be oil and gas monopolies who promise to fund certain politicians if they can get their way…
what form of alternative energy are you using in your life today?
