diesel is a kind of fuel, its much less combustuble than gasoline…boidiesel is an additive add to diesel to make it more efficient, green and burn the fuel completely its the same as ethanol on gasoline cars

Diesel is a mineral oil, obtained from petroleum crude. Biodiesel on the other hand is obtained from plants such as Jatropha, and is not a fossil fuel. As far as is known there is not much difference in the characteristics of the two, only biodiesel is just a teensy bit less combustive compared to fossil diesel, and it also contains far less sulfur.

These other two answers are basicly right but the biggest difference is that BioD tends to burn cleaner, pollute less and helps keep from supporting the big oil companies and all the problems they cause in the world.

BioD actually tends to clean out your fuel system and when mixed with dino-diesel (normal diesel) makes it burn cleaner as well.

Switching to BioD can cause your fuel filter to gum up as it loosens dirty deposits from the side of your tank and lines, but it is worth changing the filter for.
