I think the first question would be why? Why would you want to add ATF to your diesel fuel tank? Its not the same thing as bio-diesel, its a lubricant for transmissions. I would guess that it wouldn’t harm anything in that concentration but can think of no purpose it could serve.
“I have heard” is not exactly a good research tool.
I really don’t see how adding ATF equates to biodiesel, but if you are adding ATF to the diesel tank, why not add antifreeze to the brake fluid, windshield washer fluid to the motor oil, transmission fluid to the radiator, etc. See where I am going with this? The names on fluids tell you for what purpose they are formulated.
There is no good point to adding transmission fluid to diesel fuel, none whatsover.
There are, however, a few BAD points to doing this, such as damaged injector pumps, clogged filters, etc.
Manufacturers of injector pumps caution against using either ATF, or, as others have suggested, motor oil.
Yes you can it wont hurt it at all, diesel is oil base any way ,on the older cars we put a 1/2 gallon of diesel into the fuel tank to help with the valves & lifters or a quarter of atf would do the same thing ,ibelieve that’s why your doing ot as well.
