I know that in 2003 97% of electricity used in the UK came from non renewable fuels. Now i want to know the same for 2007/8.
Could anyone help?Kansieo.com
“In 2007 renewable sources were used to generate 19,664 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity. This was 4.96% of all electricity generated in the UK. The largest renewable source was biomass (47%), followed by wind and wave (27%) and hydo (26%).”
ie 95.04% will be from non-renewables.
In 2007, 5% of the UK’s electricity supply came from renewable sources, with 4.9% from Renewable Obligation (RO) eligible sources
So 95 % is Non renewable the British Govt has pledged to get up to 10% by 2010 (very unlikely) by 20 % by 2020 (impossible on current trends)
