if i use as a fuel, how can i calculate how much energy is released per gram of ??
i conducted an experiement where:
the mass of the burner (containing the ethanol) is 204.03 grams.
the initial temperater of the water (being heated by burner) is 20.7 degrees celsius.
the final temeprature of the water is 42.3 degrees celsius.
the final mass of the burner is 203.20

so how can i calculate how much energy is released per gram of ehtanol?

    _____Heat of combustion

    heat / g = (4.18 J/gC * g water * (42.3 – 20.7)C) / (204.03 -203.20)g

you need to supply how much water
assumption is that ALL heat is transferred to the water; not a good one!
