Your gas mileage will go down by 15-20%.
That is because ethanol has less BTU energy then
gasoline. BTU’s is a measure of heat efficiency. Like
a gas furnace. There will be a slight performance gain.
The objective of E85 is that it replaces the gasoline as a fuel. And theoretically if enough stations had it, we
would reduce the amount of gasoline used. But we have a long
way to go. There are only about 300 stations in the whole country. E85 is corrosive and absorbs water. So vehicles and storage and transporting of it has to have upgraded materials.

GET the current issue of ‘Car and Driver’ magazine. They have a HUGE article that talks all about everything you would ever want to know about Ethanol. PLUS they have Mileage AND acceleration test comparisons for the 2007 Chevy Tahoe! On straight gas AND E-85! Its the July 2006 issue. Article starts on page 112. It is a must read article for anyone with a Flex-Fuel vehicle!
