mhp_wizo_93_418 asked:

I am interested in converting my ‘93 Silverado, 5.0L, 5sp w/OD to use E85 fuel. I was told before that it was a matter of changing some seals and lines. Is there a conversion kit out there for this engine? What parts would i need? How much is this going to cost? I am wanting to do my part to help the environment and lessen the dependence on foreign oil what better way then to boost the U.S. economy and quit sending my dollars to the violent ridden middle east region. Oh and to stick it to the oil companies is a good thing too!
I currently use Gasahol (E15) when ever it is available, and in Iowa that is ALL the Time. Even when I travel i always opt for gasahol (E15).
hmmmm, maybe it is not about mileage, maybe it is about being a responsible citizen and doing my part to lessen the demand on foriegn oil. I know that the oil companies spend billions of dollars on attempting to stop the ‘flex fuel’ option, i find it ironic that so called 3rd world nations have passed legislation that prohibits the sale of non-E85 (flex fuel) and it is working there just fine…… what does that say about the Americans consumption priorities. Maybe you want your dollars going to fund middle eastern terrorist, i personally would rather that the $$$$ go to the American farmer
mister ss thanks for your input, however you didn’t answer my question,

Kansieo.com

The feed for animals is better than before it was turned to ethanol. I really only see one problem with this that needs to be solved.
You really only see a 15% increase by making this fuel. The problem being that it takes energy to make energy. This is a common problem with all new renewable energy sources. Gas pump it, refine it, distribute it. Solar panels high cost to make, Low return. Hydrogen (Forget it) way to costly to produce, great for the enviroment though. My dad has told me about the first self sustaining plant that will feed cows and the methane produced will power the ethanol plant if this works it is a new very clean power source. Ideas and thoughts about this subject. sorry about the spelling

Kansieo.com
