The E85 fuel is an ethanol and gasoline blend, less expansive than regular gas. Some gas stations has this fuel on sale, but I want to know the vehicle compatibility.
My vehicle is a Nissan Altima 96, 4 cylindres, 2.4 lt. standard transmision.
The only Nissan vehicles compatible with E-85 are 5.6 litre Titan 2005-2007, and 5.6 litre Armada, 2007. You can burn E-10 safely in your Altima, but definitely not E-85.
By the way, ethanol does NOT cause smog. Talk to people in the cities in Brazil, and ask them how much cleaner the air is since the only blends available at the pump are now e-20 (minimum, this year it is actually e-24) or e-100.
i own a repair shop and yes you can use it ,it burns as good as the other does, all the cars will actually run off of it ,there’s nothing special you have to do to it to get a car to run on it,i use it in a 95 Chevy truck and it actually does a lot better on it than it does on regular gas,so it will use it and not cause no problems from it,you may find that it actually does better on a half and half mix of it than it does on plain gas,but it will use it and not cause any damage, good luck with it hope this helps.
Why does everybody want to use more ethanol, you do know ethanol causes carbon build up in the engine and causes it to work harder. And it’s ethanol that’s causing all the smog. Don’t put E-85 in your Altima, because if you do you’ll need to buy another car because your engine will be shot. And also ethanol decreases fuel economy.
Fred is correct. Most E85 compatible engines are made by the Big 3. You can burn E-10 safely – E10 is 90% or more gasoline and up to 10% ethanol. It isn’t labeled as E-10 at all stations – instead, a sticker on the pump mentions the up to 10% ethanol. North American-market cars marketed since the 1980s can run on E10 without any modifications.
E85 is a 85% denatured ethanol and gasoline mixture that is only compatible with certain (mostly Big 3) engines. As of 2006, approximately one in forty vehicles on the road in the U.S. can run on E85. Cars that can run on E-85 are called flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV) or flex-fuel. These cars can run on regular gas also. The VK56DE (5.6L) in the Titan and Armada is the only Nissan engine that can use E85.
No you cant run it. E85 is 85% ethanol and 15% gas. Ethanol is more corrosive than gas so it will wreck your fuel system after awhile. Cars are required to be able to run up to E10 (10% ethanol) though.
Your mileage will also go down by about 1/3 because ethanol isnt as efficient as gas.
