Hmmm……I agree, but I am taking precautions:
-hot plate (plastic, no fire/sparks/etc.)
-under a hood (ventilated)
-fire-hazard gloves (thick, does not catch fire)
-glassware

Oh…NOT a good idea.
The flash point of ethanol is 13C. Heating it beyond this in a closed container may cause an explosion even in a water bath. Any time it is above 13C, the vapors can ignite with very little provocation.
Please do not do this…I do not want to read about it in the paper or see it on the news.
At ~55F (13C) your plastic pot will explode. If it ever reaches 30-40 degrees C, we will all know EXACTLY WHO YOU ARE because we will see you on the news, and shortly thereafter you will receive a “Darwin Award” for having blown yourself up and thus preventing the passing down of whatever genes it is you possess that make you oblivious to the obvious risks of deliberately heating fuel beyond its flash point!
