Are there any negative effects on a vehicle that uses ethanol?

I have a 2000 Chevy S-10 that can also run on E-85 ethanol. Other than fuel economy, will ethanol have any negative effects on my truck? Is it harder on my engine than gasoline?

You will loose MPG and power and pay a premium price for all that.

No. But as you know, ethanol has less ‘energy’ per gallon than gasoline, so while it may cost a bit less than gasoline, your mileage probably goes down by what, 20-25% or so.

I would NOT use ethanol as it is a big scam, boondoogle, rip off, and political ploy to get elected. READ this and you may thing TWICE about ‘green’ fuel…

“The Clean Energy Scam” (Time Magazine, 7 APR 08)

Ethanol use actually CONTRIBUTES to global warming! And it drives up the price we pay for FOOD in the Grocery Store.

If it is a designated flex fuel vehicle it was engineered to run on either with no damage. As you already know the performance and mileage will not be as good as gasoline.
